ARTISTIC EPIPHANY:

David Grannis Moore currently teaches photography at Le Moyne College. His interest in photography came rather late, not taking his first photograph until the age of 25. Before that time, he was a classical musician, playing the violin for 17 years.

David Moore’s work has been featured in solo and group exhibitions in galleries and cultural centers throughout the United States and abroad, including the Everson Museum and the Light Work Gallery in Syracuse, New York; the University of Notre Dame in Indiana; Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas; the University of California, Berkeley Extension, in San Francisco, the Munson Williams Proctor Institute, in Utica, New York, Workspace Gallery of the University of Colorado in Boulder; the Urban Institute for Contemporary Arts in Grand Rapids, Michigan; the Biennial Festival, Primavera Fotografica, Centre d’Art, Santa Monica, in Barcelona, Spain; and at the Puchong Gallery, the Midtown Y Gallery, and the 4th Street Photo Galleries in New York City.

His photographs are in public and private collections, including those of Colgate University in Hamilton, New York; Vision North Gallery in San Francisco; and the Everson Museum in Syracuse, New York. Moore is the recipient of numerous awards and honors, including grants from Light Work in Syracuse, New York; and Artists Space in New York City. His photography books False Idols and Ephemeral Beings are in the collection of museums and galleries throughout the United States, including those of the Cleveland Museum of Art, the Denver Art Museum, the Houston Center for Photography, the Museum of Contemporary Photography in Chicago, and the Photographic Resource Center in Boston.
